Queen’s University statement

November 12th, 2013 | Dr McKenna Cup, Gaelic Football, Queens GAA News

Queen’s University Gaelic Football Club has decided to enter the 2014 Power NI Dr McKenna Cup.

The club support the Ulster Council’s decision to appoint a mediator to resolve the current issues that exist.

The club also support the full adherence of Regulation 1 of the competition rules, which states that universities would have first preference on players to protect the integrity of the competition and to protect the welfare of players.

Queen’s University has been a strong supporter of the Power NI McKenna Cup and the decision to withdraw last year was not taken lightly. This is now a critical time for the mediation process led by the Ulster Council and we are confident this will enable the team to be more competitive for these important fixtures within the GAA sporting calendar.
